Boston Whaler 205 Eastport
Here's a selection of 20 photographs of the new 205 Easport walk-around cuddy boat from Boston Whaler, taken Saturday, February 19, 2005, at the boat show in Mobile, Ala. The ladies are my wife, Cheryl, and our daughter, Samantha. I was interested in seeing this new boat not so much because I'm in the market for one as I just wanted to see what Whaler's new offering in this category is like. It's probably the boat in the new lineup that's closest to the old Revenge models, and we own one of those. There's much to like about this new boat, but we will make the observation that the bunks in our classic 22-foot Revenge are less cramped than the ones in the cuddy of this new 20-foot model. Also, with the companionway opening being situated on the port side rather than the vessel's centerline, the port bunk gets shortchanged. The Eastport cockpit is roomy, however, and the helm is spacious. The stern quarter seats are nice, as is the general fit and finish. At these prices, though, we'll have to stick to used Whalers for our fleet. We're certain the new Eastport will make many new buyers happy, as it's a compact little cruiser that can be trailered or driven anywhere. --Mike Brantley
