Boston Whaler Factory Tour

In November of 2002, a month before we would own our first Boston Whaler, we knew we wanted one. So, during a fun trek down one Florida coast and up another, we stopped at the Boston Whaler factory in Edgewater, Fla., and took the tour. That's Whaler's famous Chuck Bennett, an enthusiastic employee who has been with the company since its years in Massachusetts, leading the tour. Appropriately enough, in the lobby there is a picture of the company's founder, the late Dick Fisher, having his boat cut in half. Designs have changed over the years, but in 2002 Whalers were being built much as they had been when Fisher started building them in 1959.
