July 22, 2006, brought another gathering of Boston Whaler owners to the northern Gulf Coast. We were small in number this year and as casual as can be, as we met on the beach at a happy little place called Pirate's Cove in Alabama very near the Florida line, between the bays called Wolf and Perdido. Perhaps you've heard of the "cheeseburgers in paradise"? Whalerites from Mississippi, Alabama and Florida were in attendance, with boats from 13 to 22 feet representating four decades of manufacture.
Last time we did this here, two years ago, Hurricane Ivan followed our visit. Last year, in Biloxi, our rendezvous was followed by Katrina. Hopefully, the curse is broken!
