Welcome to Whalerville
We're Mike and Cheryl Brantley, and among our favorite pastimes is spending time with our daughter and friends on our classic Boston Whaler boats. These Web pages are devoted to that pursuit, along with Mike's ongoing efforts to restore and maintain these fine (and unsinkable!) watercraft. Along with photographs and text to carry out that aim, you'll find below links to a number of excellent Internet resources for Boston Whaler enthusiasts.

Our First Boat
Here Mike tears down Dog River in Mobile, Alabama, at the helm of Sweet Cheryl, our former 1982 Boston Whaler 15 Sport. We sold the boat to its current owner, a resident of the fine state of Texas, early in 2006. It appears she has gone home, because Boston Whaler informed us that this 15 Sport was originally delivered to a Whaler dealership in Texas in 1982. Photo by Lawrence Specker.

Sweet Revenge
That's our second boat under way in 2005 in the Mississippi Sound. Sweet Samantha is a 1980 Boston Whaler V-22 Revenge. Click on the picture to follow our journey on a rewarding restoration project. Photo by James Barnett.

Rendezvous on the Water
One great thing about being on the water in a Whaler is the friendly waves you always receive from other people on the water in their Whalers. The best of times happen when Whaler owners get together to share fellowship and talk boats during a Whaler rendezvous.

The Mobile-Tensaw Delta
We who live near and along the central Gulf of Mexico coastline are blessed with ample boating opportunities, especially those of us with small craft that are perfect for protected waters. Besides all the bays and rivers and the waters protected by a series of barrier islands, there is the beautiful Mobile-Tensaw Delta. It's a vast complex of rivers, creeks, bays, bayous, islands, marsh and forest that extends for about 40 miles north of Mobile Bay.

A fine point
On September 16, 2006, a helicopter lifted the 91-foot spire that tops the new RSA Battle House Tower skyscraper in Mobile, Alabama, into place -- creating the tallest building in Alabama and one of the tallest structures on the Gulf Coast. We witnessed the historic event from our Boston Whaler boat in the Mobile River.

Still More Stuff
About Boston Whaler Boats

Factory Tour
Here's a collection of photographs from our tour of the Boston Whaler factory in Edgewater, Fla., in November 2002.

205 Eastport
Boston Whaler has a new 20-foot cabin boat that'll remind a lot of us of the former Revenge models. Here are some photographs of the 205 Eastport that we took at the 2005 boat show in Mobile. UPDATE: Somewhere along the way Whaler renamed this boat as the 205 Conquest. Same boat, new name.

150 Montauk
One of Boston Whaler's even newer offerings also had our curiosity up, as it's the latest modern edition of our former 15-foot Whaler. We spotted a 150 Montauk, which is the 150 hull with a center-console interior layout, at a shopping mall display and snapped these 20 photographs. Mike believes the Montauk layout is the best interior Whaler has come up for its 15-foot hulls, new or old.

Internet Resources
for the Whaler Enthusiast

Boston Whaler
You might as well start at the mothership, the company that still builds "the unsinkable legend." Boston Whaler makes a quality line of boats. One of the company's corporate cousins, Brunswick Commercial & Government Products, still manufactures a number of the classic Whaler hulls we so admire.

continuousWave
Jim Hebert's exhaustive Web site is the first bookmark that every owner and every admirer of Boston Whaler boats should have. Highlights of the Classic Whaler section include the wealth of information to be obtained in the Whaler Forum and the Reference section. Cetacea, an encyclopedic collection of photographs and articles, is invaluable.

Whaler Central
This site is a great Web resource as well, with numerous photo albums and a growing repository of Whaler documents. There is also a comprehensive list of links to resources, online and offline.

The Revenge Review
Pete Butterfield has created this gallery of Boston Whaler Revenge images. We'll have to send him some pictures of our Revenge. Pete's home page provides details of some of the improvements he has made to his boat.

The Boston Whaler Catalog Collection
Tom W. Clark's two-CD-ROM set of Boston Whaler catalogs and other Boston Whaler documents is a must-have for everyone reading this. Even the folks at Boston Whaler use it as a reference.

Boston Whaler Drawings
Joe Kriz has established this important and growing collection of plans and drawings pertaining to Boston Whaler boats and other gear.

Trip Log of the Namequoit
Andy Gere put together a nice travelogue of a two-day trip he and his wife, Nancy, took in 2004 aboard their 1989 Outrage 22 Cuddy. The cruise took them from Santa Cruz to Monterey and back, and there are good pictures to go along with the good words.
